It feels kind of weird plunging in head first with all the "conspiracy" stuff. I mean it's easy to post about my dog or my friends or even my political opinions, but there's definitely something to be said for "going public" with your paranoia.
Anyway I'm new to the world of "Maitreya" and I've been doing some reading about "Him." I find this entire thing to be exceedingly unsettling, probably because until now I'd just assumed that the encroaching global coup would be militarily and pharmaceutically driven. I didn't expect to be faced with something like this -- ESPECIALLY not the part about the technological telepathy/mind-control. Let's dwell on this for a minute or two.
Over at Tim's place, slomo pointed me in the direction of a questionable but nonetheless creepy and fascinating piece on "Maitreya" and his mouthpiece, Benjamin Creme. Aside from revealing that he is a "card-carrying" Communist, the beneficent Ben goes on to explain that once Maitreya declares himself, the world's wealth will essentially be confiscated -- by force, if people are unwilling to comply -- and redistributed to the starving masses. Sound holy enough for you?
Here's a chilling tidbit from the loser's official site, Share International:
"Among Maitreya's recommendations will be a shift in social priorities so that adequate food, housing, clothing, education, and medical care become universal rights."
A shift in social priorities, you say? Whatever can that mean? It couldn't be a thinly veiled reference to the systematic abolition of our civil liberties, could it? I swear, the world IS turning into a Philip K. Dick novel. Let's break it down for a minute. The possibilities are as follows:
1. Maitreya is God.
2. Maitreya and Ben Creme are phonies and lunatics.
3. Maitreya and Ben Creme are phonies and lunatics who are instrumental in the evil shadow government's plot to secure their global dominion.
If Maitreya is really God, everything will probably work out fine. If Maitreya and Ben are a couple of harmless nutjobs, that's too bad, but it's no skin off my back. IF, HOWEVER, the third possibility is the reality of the situation, AND the plot is going to unfold the way they claim it will, then I think we're pretty much screwed. Here's why: Share Intl. is claiming that when Maitreya "declares" himself, he will communicate with all people, all over the world, TELEPATHICALLY. Meaning we will all HEAR HIS VOICE INSIDE OF OUR HEADS. Okay, the only way this is possible is A) if Maitreya is God; or B) if they're going to use some kind of super-slick new mind-control technology on us, basically beaming the information directly into our brains through some kind of weird wave transmission.
Let's break it down one more time. The shadow government is employing a puppet messiah to trick the world into believing that God has returned to save humankind. The false savior is actually a tool of oppression whose holy mandate will rob the people of their liberty and their happiness, rendering them helpless in the face of an evil global dictatorship.
So what happens to the rebel forces? There's going to be opposition, for sure. How will they handle the dissenters? What happens if you refuse to accept Maitreya as your savior? Will they round up the unbelievers and bring them into Synanon-esque centers for "reprogramming"? Will books be banned? Burned? Will non-Maitreya-centric religious practice be declared criminal? Will we be forced to don grey robes, speaking only in hushed voices at secret meetings?
Another thing that makes me really suspicious is the fact that there seems to be an emphasis on non-specificity. It's like, "Oh yeah, well, he's Jesus AND Krishna AND Allah, you know. I mean they're really all the same guy. Don't worry about it." It's all incredibly bland and vague and impersonal, and their buzzwords are things like "share" and "teacher" -- what am I, a first grader?
The beauty of this world is in the color, the variety, the friction and the dynamism.
That creepy Joseph Dewey article also makes mention of the idea that humans can sort of "feed" this Maitreya entity with their energy through meditation and prayer. What if all these "world leaders" are really the minions of an evil otherwordly being and this is just a big plot to "harvest" the spiritual energies of the entire human race, thus fueling some kind of demonic take-over of this dimension?
In all seriousness, one could obviously take this idea into some pretty extreme territory, as I think I and others have already done. I mean it's so far out and paranoid to begin with. I don't know whether I should laugh or fashion myself a tinfoil hat.
Hi Laura Jane, nice blog! One more blog I now have to keep up with :)
On the issue of shifting social priorities. Not necessarily a bad thing, if something like a Scandanavian socialist government is what they have in mind. I do believe that there are tradeoffs between individual (economic) freedoms, individual responsibilities, collective survival and universal justice. The question boils down to one of details: what is the proposed power dynamic? Who ultimately benefits and who loses? I don't like the idea of some "Ascended Master" stepping in and forcing us into socialism, while at the same time I wish we would collectively and voluntarily come up with such a system ourselves.
The mind control thing is, however, very creepy.

thanks slomo !
i agree, i think that we are in need of a "shift in our social priorities" -- but i inherently rebel against the idea of having any kind of a change forced on us collectively. i think that to force something like that can only generate a tremendous amount of negative energy. even if it were theoretically a good system... if there's coercion involved, i'm willing to bet that no good will come of it -- even if the negative backlash doesn't manifest right away.

Yes, most socialist should have learned the problem with coercion from the Soviet experience.
That's why I am more inclined
As for fearing Maitreya, I think the phenomenon is pretty harmless. All-powerful leaders are usually not liked by established leaders. Anyways, who needs one Maitreya when you have a diversity of other leaders who keep the sheep in line? (Dobson, Ratzinger, Robertson etc.) The Establishment would never bank its power on the strength of one ruler.

Uh, get your facts straight about Ben Creme and Maitreya. Ben Creme is not a card carrying communist, never said it, ever. Other lies: the worlds resources will be shared by FORCE. NOT TRUE. Never said ANYWHERE, find me a quote that even implies force. You won't find it. Your paranoia amusing, but wrong. BTW the reason I found this website was becuase I was looking up the URL for a site that has excerpts from a book by Philip K. Dick titled, The Last Testament where PKD supports Ben C. and his message on Maitreya, Sharing, ect... http://ucsu.colorado.edu/~castlema/phildick.htm

Hi Laura Jane,
I have to agree with Christopher McBride's comments. I'm not sure exactly what you read (as the link doesn't work), but if you read "the loser's official site" even a tiny bit more carefully, you'll see that neither Maitreya nor any other "Master of Wisdom" can ever violate our free will. We will never be forced to do anything. Urging us to share the world's resources has been and will continue to be Maitreya's priority, but we have to agree that it's the right thing to do and cooperate to make it happen.
Try to do a little bit more research on this and your wild paranoia might be eased. But no one can force you!
